Travel & Stay
Travelling
Getting to/around Cornwall
We would recommend that, for those that can, driving is the best option to travel to and around the Roseland Peninsula. However, trains do run regularly from London Paddington to Truro with onwards public transport needed to get to the venue area.
Driving
If driving then from London the A303 or M4/M5 are the best route although we always just go with what Google says on the day.
Taxis
There is a limited number of Taxis around St Mawes. Taxis will need to be booked in advance & we would suggest booking before you get to Cornwall.

Ferries
If travelling to or from Falmouth, then the Falmouth Foot Ferry is an enjoyable trip as an alternative to driving via the King Harry Ferry. The Falmouth Ferry runs between St Mawes Harbour and Falmouth every 30 minutes throughout the year. The last ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth is at 17:45. Check out the Fal River website for more details.
Getting to/from The Rising Sun
Bus: For those who wish to get the Bus the only route is the Route 50 which runs between Truro/Portscatho and St Mawes. Buses run at an very irregular 2hr interval
Driving: The Rising Sun is located next to St Mawes Car Park where paid parking is available
Taxi: See above for Taxi details
Getting to/from Place House
Place Ferry: From St Mawes you can take the Place Ferry to Place Manor. The ferry runs from 9am to 5.45pm. Please be aware the Ferry can only take 10 people on a first-come, first-serve basis and runs every 30mins
Local Taxi Company: See above for Taxi details
Parking: There will be a limited amount of parking on-site for cars so group up! Cars can be left overnight
Getting Home: We will be putting on a mini-bus shuttle that will run from around 22:30 until 00:30 between Place House > Portscatho > St Mawes. Please indicate on your RSVP if you would like to use the Shuttle Bus so we can get an idea on numbers
Getting to/from Towan Beach
Best bet is to park near Thirstea and walk with your stuff down a short path to the beach. We will have cars going from Place House so for those in St Mawes you can come to Place House via Ferry and grab a lift (just ping Alex or Cat)
Staying
We would recommend staying in either St Mawes or Portscatho.
There are plenty of Hotels, Rental Cottages, AirBNBs and Campsites around the Roseland Peninsula. We have listed a few below that may help your search.
Cornwall can book up early and we know of at least two other weddings in the vicinity this weekend so we would suggest that bookings are made early so as to not be disappointed!
